Tastyboi Posted February 15, 2015 at 04:39 AM Share Posted February 15, 2015 at 04:39 AM I have Xperia Arc S. And I have been trying to root it for years. All the information I got on forums were largely unhelpful. There are prerequisites to rooting that was never mentioned. Firstly I used Flashtool to restore the Android version and the build to an earlier version. I was on Android 4.0.4 and didn't like it so reverted back to 2.3.4. I'm not sure if this is necessary. But I much prefer that version. If you want to do this, you need to find a working Flashtool (it is a small program to run on your computer), and the "firmware" to install. The firmware is the actual build version you want. It is a file, so when you use Flashtool connected to your phone and install that file, it will rebuild your phone to that version of the file you selected. Secondly you have to "bootload" your device. Once that is done. Then you can root your device. It took me ages to find all the programs and files needed. And then I went on youtube to find the best video instructions. Here are some files and links that I used for Xperia Arc S. To bootload here is the youtube video I used. It has a link for the required files in the description: >http://youtu.be/JlyBjBKULq4 To then Root the device here is the youtube video I used. It has a link for the required files in the description: >http://youtu.be/OxF4O5E2RiY You then need to "partition" the memory on your SD card. That is making a part of it linked to the phone's internal memory. All instructions I had said to put phone in recovery mode. But my phone would not go into recovery mode. So I was able to use a free program call MiniTool Partition Wizard. You can allocate how much memory of your SD card to allocate as a internal memory. Then I got a app called Link2SD which manages your apps and where they are saved to. SD card, internal memory, or linked SD card (this is the part that the SD card is used as internal memory for those apps you want on your SD card but phone doesn't allow) Here is a helpful internet page that helped me a lot also. http://rootmyandroid.org/things-to-do-after-rooting-android-smartphone.html If you want links to files that I have mentioned let me know. I'll see what I can do, but no guarantees.
Tastyboi Posted February 15, 2015 at 05:22 AM Share Posted February 15, 2015 at 05:22 AM This is a link to where you can download the latest working flashtool. It is a torrent file so you will need a torrent client like Bittorrent or Utorrent to download it. http://www.flashtool.net/downloads.php This is the youtube tutorial I used to Flash my device. But do not use the links provided. They are not appropriate. >https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9VnDu60smE All you need now is the firmware file you want to update the build of your phone. That is what is hardest to find.

Try using KingoRoot or CF Auto Root and report success or failure.Sent from my Explorer A310e using Tapatalk
