How To: Install a .apk file on your Android Phone

Here is a small guide how to download and install APK files to your Android Phone.

Using Android Phone:

Just make sure "Unknown sources" is checked in settings first of your device

To do this, navigate to Menu -> Settings -> Applications and check the box marked “Unknown Sources“.

* Install ZArchiver or ASTRO File Manager on your Phone.

Note: We recommend that you use >>> Firefox Browser <<< or >>> Opera Mobile <<< web browser for your android device.

* Open ZArchiver or ASTRO File Manager on your Android Phone and then find and install the application.

Using PC:

- Install ZArchiver from the Android Market on your Phone.

- Download the apk file from >>> ANDROID ZONE <<< to your PC/Laptop/Mac.

- Connect your Android Phone to your PC/Laptop/Mac with a USB Cable.

- Transfer the previously downloaded file from your PC/Laptop/Mac to the root of your Android Phone.

- Disconnect the USB Cable from your Android Phone.

- Open ZArchiver on your Android Phone and then find and install the application.

1. You Must be Rooted (SuperSu Should Be installed in phone)

2. To Install Supersu You Need CWM Recovery Should Be installed in phone)

3. To install Cwm you Need Odin in PC)

Just a slight modification or expansion to the above line...

The first thing to install is a "GOOD" file handler - eg Total Commander (or any one of the many others out there),, then if you have a microSD card plugged in, from there you can make a folder on it (with the file handler) and you can copy all your *.apk installers into it. Your default, or better program installers will always look for installer *.apk's and will always find them if they are on the SD card each time it starts up. This way you keep the devices memory free for other things and you are using the SD card for storage, which is basically what it's there for...

You can also make more folders on the SD card and store music, videos, pics and whatever else you want in them. Doing it this way, you keep things organized and the various types of files all together...

Some of the files downloaded are coming up as .exe even though they have apk in the file name, any idea how to correct this, tried renaming file but makes no difference.
